Expressing Mental Health Thru Art
While growing up we have always had a hard time expressing our deepest vulnerabilities and speaking out about our mental health. There is a negative stigma surrounding mental health in black communities where instead of seeking help we depend on ourselves to mask our pain.
We currently live in a culture where you are not supposed to be seen as weak especially as a black man, where you are not really allowed to cry and have to deal with problems on your own. This idea pushes the fact that it’s not okay to speak about our pains and show that we are hurting inside.
What we did is looked for ways to help anyone within any community be able to express themselves and speak about their health. We came to the conclusion that art in the form of fashion is the best way to display the message of mental health and illness.
We picked out 8 different mental health conditions that are prevalent in the United States and different areas around the world. We understand that 1 in 5 adults have experienced some form of mental illness throughout their life.
With our designs, we plan to help express mental health thru art. Finding a way to express yourself thru our designs can help start a conversation around tough topics and bring awareness to different mental health conditions.
The clothing we offer is made with premium materials to feel comfortable to the skin and withstand multiple washes. We do plan to keep adding more design as time goes along.
Thank you very much for reading what we are about, hopefully, you feel influenced to start expressing mental health thru art and start speaking about how you feel inside.
